When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that: I am responsible.
— 1965 A.A. International Convention in Toronto.
In those days, this meant answering a telephone or letter. Today this means making sure we have an online presence that those seeking help can find easily.
The Digital 12th Step Chair helps the group carry the message online to the community and to the alcoholic who still suffers. In conjunction with the Group Conscience and consistent with the 12 Traditions, this position helps the alcoholic who still suffers use the best tools available to ensure accessibility of meetings to people not sent to AA by courts, treatment centers, and other interventions.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Email newsletter
- Online communities for members
- Other experiments as the group decides are consistent with the Traditions.
